The replacement VHF charges correctly. I turned the AIS collision alarms off because they were beyond annoying. However, as a backup off shore I could see it being very useful.
I opted to get one before my singlehand ip here because the VHF at the helm doesn't work and I needed a way to contact the marina.
I thimk this is roughly equivalent to the one Wayne has.

First singlehand ... conditions are mercifully calm but I am still being very careful.

I came back to the boat and the high-water alarm was blaring. False alarm. I disarmed it and the light went out. I rearmed it and it seems ok.
