Long day today.

After getting a late start and taking a long hot shower I set about installing CO alarms in bith cabins and the salon. I found a hard wired old CO meter in the aft salon which had been disabled. I traced its wires back to the nav station and uncovered a little rats nest of bad wiring in danger of shorting out.

I took care of the rats nest and carefully labeled every switch I could identify. I installed the CO alarms and then miunted four fire extinguishers in clear view. The cockpit extinguisher is in the statboard lazarette.

I installed a quadlock on the binnacle, which needed to be widened with some electrical tape since the Quadlock mount is standard measure and the binnacle bar is metric. It seems solid enough.

I carefully inspected the mount on the rudder. It seems there is about 1mm of play between the arm and the rudder. There's a sizable key and keyway which may account for the play.

I did determine that the box iver the aft bunk is the access to the lower portion of the quadrant but it seems that whatever play there is is coming from the mechanism at the wheel. I fear a sheered key similar to what we saw on Tabasco.

I have still not been able to get the emergency tiller port open. I need a sturdier winch handle to apply any kind of pressure to it.

I did figure out that it seems the refrigerator is actually working but there is still some wiring issue as the wrong light illuminates on the board. The breaker also intermittently makes a disturbing buzzing noise.

I did a lot of cleaning and insoected all the through hulls and bilge pumps I could find. I have not found the high water float switch but I am very tired.

I cleared out about 70 pounds of trash.

I did a lot more but it's all a blur now.

It's quite a haul to this Outback but they tend to take special requests seriously.

It was a long very active high energy day but I got a lot done. However, there is still much to do.

I slept in the forward cabin. With my sleeping bag and the space heater running I was almost too warm.

Not having a working refrigerator is oroving to be a hindrance.

The PB Blaster so far has not loosened up the emergency tiller port.

I made breakfast and am now waiting on coffee to finish brewing.

Long day.

I arrived at approximately 16:20. It turns out the seller was out of town but the office manager was expecting me.

The boat was open and the keys were in it.

While there was still light I went through the lazarettes around the cockpit and carefully took photos of everything I found. Then I out things back in an orderly fashion.

I did find boxes of spares, extra shore oower cables, the emergency tiller, and assorted other things such as a life sling.

Then I hoofed everything from the car to the dock and then heaved it all onto the boat and finally dragged it down below.

I was concerned about finding a place to eat as the restaurant here is closed. Most places listed as open on Google were in fact closed. I had to drive 30 minutes until I found an Outback.

After that I headed over to a Food Lion with a cery disapointing fruit selection to do a small provisioning run.

Once back at the boat I started going through all the lockers seeing what I could find.

Distressingly, despite there being next to no evidence of eater intrusion when I looked over the boat during the survey, there's a little water almost everywhere. Much of it is condensation but I'm guessing we had not had much rain prior to the survey. These few deluges we've had recently seems to indicate the boat leaks much more than I initially thought.

There was a miscommunication with the seller. When he accepted my final offer he withdrew the new dinghy from it but the broker failed to mention it. Oh well.

I sprayed some PB Blaster on the emergency tiller port. Hopefully I can get that freed up tomorrow.

The stuffing box is if a design I have not seen before so I need to do some searching to see if I can find some information on it. It does not look like the tools I have will work.

It's currently dripping at rest about one drop per second or so. We'll have to keep an eye on it.

I cleaned out the fridge. It was FILTHY. Sadly it does not look like it's working. If I turn the refrigerator switch on at the panel the shower sump light turns on and there's some noise I haven't been able to track down.

I've been trying to find places for everything. Strangely there's no obvious place for cutlery. I fear the storage on this boat might be a bit lacking hiwever the showers make great storage rooms.

Sadly, if I run both space heaters the breaker trips. I'm loathe to run the reverse cycle AC/Heat as I have been led to believe running such a system with insufficient refrigerant can damage the pump which is an expensive proposition.

The boat feels more cramped than I imagined. AraVilla and Tabasco have spoiled us. Especially the passage to the V-berth is quite ridiculously narrow. In my humble opinion the sacrificed too much space for the heads and showers needlessly.

It's 3am now. I've been up since 05:30 so I will crash shortly. Tomorrow will be another long day.

Strange map redraw bug I haven't seen in a while. The map was blank until I dragged it.

Yhere seems to be an occasional problem when switching from on foot to the car. The app is getting killed.

Bathroom pitstop at a rest stop. It's partially sunny with temperatures in the low 50's with steady winds.

Traffic has been light but the fact I got so little sleep last night is catching up to me.

Out the door at 6:45. I suspect I am near the limit of what can be crammed into my car.
