Wayne took over. The winds continue to be from a very unfortunate angle. It's my birthday nderstanding that we should be reaching the Trade Winds any time now but it has not yet materialized.

Winds are still cold ming from the Southeast deapite the fact that we are approaching 65deg longitude. Wayne says he doesn't belive the Trade Winds wxist.

There's a lot of lightning in the distance to port.

Feeling much bwtter
this evening. It had been a rough few days healthwise. Super tired. I had also noticed my vision was mich worse.

But now my vision is back to normal and the oppressive fog of fatigue has passed. Thankfully it is much easier to rest on a sailboat than on a motorcycle trip. I hate it when the bottom drops out from under me like that. It makes travel so challenging.

Shortly thereafter the wind picked up and I shut down the engine.

Dana has the stereo on. He has an excellent taste in music.

day six I think. after night of passing through squalls and small nothing extreme, this morning. we decided it was time to turn east and head directly for the trade winds. We did have a little excitement last night when we spotted several waterspouts nearby on the radar but none of them gave us any problems and none of the little storms was any real deal. it has been a slow day of light winds and progressing along it. oh a little under five knots or so. and honestly, we just didn't care that much long as we are moving forward. we're trying to conserve fuel so running the motor all the time is just not the answer. and besides we're kind of tired of listening to it. at one point the wind died and the boat almost came to a standstill and all of us just sat around doing our various things reading a book, cleaning the boat fooling with electronics. you can figure out who is doing each of those. it's getting dark now, there's the squall line in front of us but it doesn't look too big, and we will continue through tonight to make slow progress towards the east to find these mythical trade winds I've heard so much about.

The wind died after we reefed the mainsail in preparation for bigger winds tonight. So now we are motorsailing.

I spent quite some time on the bow. Calm. Cooler and dryer than it has been. Blue water. Glorious sunset. Ominous clouds ahead.

Finally managed to download all the videos from the GoPro. I had forgotten to clear the SD card.

I really need the checklist feature.

Flying fish especially the small ones look freaky in the air.

I put the micro sd card back in the gopro but the gopro app said there was no sd card. I went to remove it and it sprung out of the camera and fell somewhere. Several minutes of searching with Dana's help and just when I was about to give up I found it. It was a little damp so I wiped it off thoroughly and tried it again in the MacBook. Now it's working.

Now for the first time the MacBook USB port seems to not be working.

Even Dana said I wasn't looking so good today. The bottom droppes out from under me and things became a bit painful. Travelling while chronically ill presents its challenges. I am grateful for having my own private head.

Ugh. Ouch.

It dawns on me that this is how I felt when we arrived at Sint Maarten last year; run down and worthless.

I am feeling wickedly run down today ... not sure why.
