Wayne made me some chicken and spaghetti and sausage for him and Dana.

The wind picked up so Wayne turned off the engine and we have been sailing for well over an hour now.

The little bird is still chilling in the corner on a towel looking like it's weathering a storm. I moved some cracker crumb and the shallow bowl of water in front of it.

I'm doing the post dinner watch until 9 when Wayne takes over.

Dishes are a never ending task. Overwhelmingly on this crossing, Wayne has been doing them but I've trnded to it when I notice it.

The little bird contines to chill in the salon on a towel not botherin' nobody.

I put some water out for it and Dana put out some cracker bits. We areive in Sint Maarten tomorrow but I don't lnow if this bird is native to that island. I don't /think/ it hitchhiked all the way. We would have seen it.

I've never had that happen before. The little bird flew into the cabin. Concerned it was
going to poop on Dana's stuff so I stuck my finger out for it to perch on and it did. I carried it outside and it just hung out on my finger for what miust have been five minutes. Wayne got some photos and I got some video.

Right now it's hanging out in the salon next to the nav station.

It looks like the wind angle has changed. Now we just need more of it.

There's a little bird which flies around the boat occasionally over the last few hours. I presume it's hiding on the boat somewhere. Dana said he had seen it sitting on the helm seat at one point.

When asked, "Are we going to die?"

I typically respond, "Yes, but probably not today."

Talked to Dana a bit while sipping coffee. He spoke of his desire to try a multi-day solo sail. I can see the appeal. He also mentioned wanting to move the boat to Europe. I said if he needed crew for that I'd volunteer. That'd be a very long trip.

Saparately, we talked about storm tactic and other sailing topics when he mentioned, "You teo could do this crossing on your own."

I woke up just after 11:30 to the sound of the engine still running: 🥺
So starts another day

Fortunately we still have fuel in the starboard tank and there is a transfer pump.

With how much the boat moves it's challenging to get clear photos of the instruments.

Story of the trip. I'd have to turn to 90 to sail or maybe 180 neither of which really help us especially given the forecast says the winds should eventually (yesterday?) come from the East.

Dana has relieved me. Since he's awake we've theottled up to 2000rpms. There's a very noticable increase in noise between 1800 and 2000 so when Dana is sleeping in the aft port canin we keep it at 1800.

If the wind doesn't change it'll be Monday before we arrive.

Many more faint shooting syarsnor maybe just my eyes paying tricks on me.

I tried to use the spotlight to see if I could see any flying fish or other critters but all I saw was what I assume to be some kind of seaweed floating by on the surface.

I did see one flying fish earlier before the sun went down.

I'm feeling a little bit better now.

The wind is still distressingly on the nose . We are only making 4 knots. Motoring for me is strangely tiring. The hour I had the sails up was nice.

The stars are particularly bright tonight.
I clipped in and spent some time sitting on the deck just watching the stars.

I saw one of the most dramatic meteors I have ever seen. It was short lived and very fast and left a wide trail stretching a good quarter of the sky that took a couple seconds to fade. I've never seen anything like it.

Note to self: check the glycemic index of butternut squash. I'm not feeling so good.

Starting my midnight watch. Very tired. I wonder if butternut squash ia too starchy?

Wind has changednagain unfavorably. Wayne has us motorsailing again. It was good while it lasted.

Dana made dinner. We are eating very well on this trip.

The weak headwinds persist. Every so often the direction shifts a little in our favor or the strength increases but it doesn't last. There are just over 200 miles to go. At our current rate that will take 2 days. We brought just enough food to make it. We have ample water. It's just that the time is so long. I had hoped to spend a day or two in St. Maartin visiting but I may get in with little time left other than to pack and catch my flight home. Oh well. The wind could change in the next few minutes. I don't think it will.
