We've gotten Duncan's K1300S back together. The front wheel is straightened and the wheel bearings have been replaced. We mounted new Pilot Road 5's on it. So the thought is to go for a little ride heading out into an area we have not explored to the North and East of Baltimore.
This turned into a beautiful cool ride along a number of dirt roads we had yet to explore.
We're heading up to Summit Point Motorsports Park on Sept 9th for a track day event.
This is an abbreviated ad-hoc street ride just to get out on the bikes for a while before we have to go to Duncan's mom's birthday dinner. I'm not yet sure where we'll go.
The plan is to head back up to Michaux State Forest and see if we can find some roads there we haven't ridden.
We're getting a late start. The plan is to stop by the cottage in Kinsale to take a look at it and then head towards 211. Plans are fluid because of pending inclement weather. The plan is for a mix of slab, pavement, and gravel. If all goes well it'll be a 350+ mile day.
Heading down to Roanoke on August 7th to meet the Road Runner folks.
Pondering a ride to forest services roads on the far side of 81. Unfortunately, due to a rear wheel bearing failure on Duncan's DR650 this turned into a street ride.
I've decided to head up to the BMW RA Rally near Wellboro, PA to hopefully meet a number of people I've been corresponding with on Facebook for some time. Originally this was going to finally be the time I met Gary Weaver. :( Sadly, that can now never happen.
After too much twistiness, I'm craving some gawdawful superslab. Duncan wants to go ride the section of I95 that's about to get shut down once the I95 project is completed this fall. From there maybe a waterfall or two.
I'm heading down to Waynesville to join Wayne of Waynesville on a mapping trip into the forest roads of Northern Georgia.
Heat advisories all over the place. We're going to head out looking for cooler climes to the South.
I got invited to a motorcycle dinner in Philadelphia with Lance Lau, Tom Cutter, and others. I met Lance at the New York International Motorcycle show and I haven't seen Tom in way too long. Instead of just heading up I95, I figure I'll take the long way and see if I can't make a more pleasant ride out of it. I plan to stop by Revzilla if I make it up there early enough. I need to get a new pair of ADV gloves.
Plans have changed. Now the plan is to take the DR s up to Michaux State Forest and ride a section of the MABDR which cooncidentally runs over some of the dirt we are familiar with.
This year's trip will be shorter than previous ones. We are considering a four day Virginia/West Virginia/Ohio loop ride. In a recent mapping trip with Wayne, I came across some truly nice roads only a few hours away so the thought would be to get to good roads quickly.
We need to get the DR's out as they have been sitting for far too long. The original plan was to head to Michaux State Forest but unfortunately the weather forecast has other plans. The thought is to head to the Fort Valley Road area and explore some of the unpaved roads around there.
Frederick Municipal Watershed and Michaux State Forest are on the Agenda. We could meet up in Thurmont at the social center of town also known as the Sheetz.
Ryan and I are caging it down to Virginia International Raceway to take Levels III and IV of Keith Code s California Superbike School
3 nights at the Ft. Lewis Lodge, Thurs, Fri, Sat. Exploring roads Friday, Saturday.
The original plan was to ride the DR's up to Michaux but it's a bit chilly so we've opted to take the street bikes. The thought is to head down to Route 33 and then loop back up through Rough Run Road (an MTSweger suggestion). We haven't been on 33 in a few years.
The plan, if it's not too cold, is to ride the length of Skyline Drive tomorrow.
Where should we go today?
It's been quite a while since we've managed to get out.
