We motored out of the inlet but it was decided, given time constraints and a lee shore, that it was most prudent just to motor back. We had been motor sailing and for practice fueled the mainsail in in the waves. It is tricky getting the sail not to fold while going into the furling. It takes quite a bit of time between keep the boat at the right angle on a slight starboard tack and having enough pressure on the out haul. It requires finesse, timing, and patience.
