I feel like the engine on Will Sea is quieter than the 40 horse on this boat.

I spent an extended time on the bow comparing where I thought the wind was coming from and comparing it to the Windex at the top of the mast. I'm usually about 5 degrees off but there may be a difference at water level.

The mistake I made yesterday was not realizing the wind instruments at the helm were set to true wind.

There is a lot of current here.

While on the bow I pondered how sailing forces me against my will to change my habits. If I don't sleep I do very poorly the next day. There are consequences Out Here(tm) especially in the company of high energy others that are just not present in my day to day life.

We left the dock at 8:57. There's hardly any wind but we did put out the main. The water is close to glass like.

Jackie is familiarizing herself with the auoto-helm.

Both sails are now fueled and we are motoring back to the dock.

The roller furling bunched up the sail probably because we weren't on the correct tack when we reefed it.

Practicing estimating when to tack to reach a given target.

We tacked and then turned downwind to head back towards the bridge.

Things have been going very well.

Third reef in the headsail. Solid winds today. More than was expected I think.

First reef in the main now. Moving along at 6.9 kts.

Earlier I saw a huge container ship go under the bridge.

It's a glorious day for a sail.

We made our turn. now on a beam reach in 21 it's of breeze.

There's enough wind that we put in the first reef in the job. Sailing an unfamiliar boat and noticing the minor mistakes we all make is proving to be a valuable experience.

We left the slip without a hitch. Per ruws, Austin of WayPoints piloted us out of the fairway. We then dropped him off on the dock. We'll come back to the T-dock.
