Something changed. I swear I looked yesterday or the day before, and this size could not be found but Revzilla now has Pilot Road 5 GT's in the right sizes.

I just ordered a set.

Front tire is a 120/70ZR17
I might as well replace them as a set.

So I failed to notice a second hole about 10mm from the first hole. The patch of the first hole held but there's a pinhole leak. It's too close to the first hole so the tire will need to be replaced.

The consensus is that if I can't find a 170/60 ZR17, I can run a 180/55ZR17 instead. I've done that before. It changes the handling slightly but it's entirely doable.

After running around all over creation, I found the sealant. Unfortunately, I had a buy a much larger can of it than I would have liked. It turns out, at least according to the guy at NAPA, that rubbing alcohol or brake cleaner works just as well as any special rubber cleaner.

It doesn't look like I'm going to be able to get a tire before the end of November, so the best option at the moment is to do a proper off the rim patch as per buffalo's suggestion.

Hanperal 24Pcs Rubber Tire Repair Patch Plug Combo

Hanperal 24Pcs Rubber Tire Repair Patch Plug Combo

See the video describing how to use these. These are off the wheel patch/plugs applied from the inside and should provide a more stable patch than the temporary from the outside kind.

Aside from a YouTube video I was unable to find good information on how to install these.

Finding any instructions on how to use these patches has proven challenging. There is a video on YouTube that describes the process:

How To Properly Repair a Tire

There are a few different methods you can use for tire repair. The method I show in this video is considered the ‘best possible tire repair’. This method is ...

I'm not sure if the special cleaner is really necessary and I suspect I can smooth out the inside using a mild dremel tool rather than get yet another special tool. I ordered the vulcanizing cement at the same time as the patches but it is now back ordered.

I'm going to see if I can find the cement and sealer locally. Advance seems to carry the cement according to their website.

No joy at Bob's. Back ordered until December. I'm contemplating whether or not to just patch it and ride it as is until I can get a tire.

Asked Scott if Bob's might have that tire in stock.

Bummer. The PR4GT 170/60ZR17 is out of stock at Revzilla.
