So we were talking to Mark any suggested that we wait until late in the day to get our COVID test. it sounds like a plan. I said. remember what happened the last time we had a plan and he replied adventure!

Scheduling a COVID rapid test proved to be challenging. Even as I was searching for a convenient places slots were disappearing. We needed to jump on what we could get. It's not ideal but we should be able to make it work. We're going to combine a laundry run with the test appointment to get everything done at once.

Mark's friend Sean has very generously loanes us his truck.

We were so tired last night we were hallucinating. Customs seemed to go ok and then suddenly they decided to go through the boat with a fine tooth comb.

We had a celebratory drink, chatted for a bit, and passed out.

It was incredibly cold in the pilot house last night. I awoke around 6ambto frost on the boat.

Land sighted!

My 12:00 to 13:00 shift is over. Everything is cold and damp. We are down to our last two hand warmers. Sadly, they stop working when wet and everything is wet.

9 to 10 shift done. Windy and cold but not as rainy.

Weird sea birds flying around and hanging out in the waves.

"You're really the hero of this trip." Mark said to me about my time behind the wheel while he was recovering from hypothermia.

These waterproof gloves I bought would be better advertised as "extremely water absorbent"

We're going slowly so as to not overstress the steering system. At this rate it'll be another 8 or 9 hours until we get to the channel and another two or three to get to the marina. It's shaping up to be another very long day and we have run out of hand warmers.

Wayne heard me joke "I don't wanna." and immediately jumped into action.

The pilot house is all set with soggy gear. Wayne just went out to rig up a wind block for Mark so he doesn't get so cold. I'm an hour I'll relieve Mark and take over motoring.

It looks like steering under motor works. We are now motoring through waves with quite a bit of rain.

I took an epic shower. I have pinky toes again. Wayne thinks I might have been at the wheel for 5 maybe 6 hours.

We are stopped. Sails are down. Wayne and Mark took the GoPro to see if the rudder is damaged. The video shows it's intact so there must be some issue in the gear/chain system that drives the rudder.

I forgot to mention while going the rudder. Wayne got submerged by a wave that came up the transom.
