For the duration of this project I've been remiss in writing about it here. There are some quick posts on the posts tab and a bunch of photos, but little in terms of context as to what happened, what we learned along the way, and especially what challenges we ran into.

Time permitting I hope to do a proper write up of the entire project. The things we thought would be terribly difficult turned out not to be and some of the things we thought would be trivial stopped us cold for quite a while.

Over this last weekend we managed to install and wire up the front fairing in addition to the rear cowling. Over a decade ago Duncan had gotten me a brake light buddy which I had promised to install.

"If a man tells you he is going to do something, he will. you don't need to remind him every decade."

The donor bike plastics are in much better shape than the ones from my bike, so I've been bolting on all the donor plastics and transferring over missing bits, such as my rear cowling rack, which required some drilling.

I had forgotten about my Trail of the Dragon sticker, which means I'm going to have ride down there again to get another one.

We even got so far as to get some pressure into the brake system. There was one small leak at the rear master cylinder which was a quick problem to solve. I don't like the amount of torque on the front brake lines. I'm not sure what to do about it because I can't seem to figure out any better way to orient them. I fear they are going to fail.

We're getting awfully close to being able to apply power. Will the magic smoke leak out? If it doesn't and we try to start it, will there be an earth shattering kaboom?

Inquiring minds want to know ...
