226.1 miles total for me.
The last third of the twisties on this ride were just fantastic. The weather was beautiful. We'll have to explore that area north and east of Harpers Ferry much more thoroughly in an upcoming ride.
At Savage Mill, as we were leaving the restaurant, Duncan and I were waiting to turn right onto the road out of the parking lot which was at a downhill slope to my right. As I went to accelerate, turn, and lean the bike stalled suddenly. I had underestimated how cold it had gotten and when cold it has a tendency to stall at which point at parking lot speed it'll come to an abrupt stop.
And that is exactly what it did and fell to the right down slope. There was no catching it and I tumbled hitting the pavement pretty hard.
I'll need a new helmet.
However, the gear all worked. Aside from a temporary slight headache I had no injuries whatsoever.
I have an acquaintance who was on the back of her friends bike who had an accident a few hours earlier who was not wearing gear and required a hospital stay and it will be some time before she recovers.
