Late checkout. My shoulder was really bad yesterday. Another chilly cloudy day.

I've taken some time to plan out more roads. Despite all the bugs it's a compelling route planning platform

Stopping to replace my earplugs. These are done.

REMINDER: get different less painful earplugs.

Good run through despite feeling quite foggy due to bad life choices.

BUG: tracking bug happened in the foreground. I am guessing it has to do with restarting while tracking enabled. Pause/restart seems to fix it.

ouch!

BUag: For some reason it appears that segments that have already been saved are getting updated when processing background locations. The long lines appear on segments that have already been processed.

Had a good thought filled ride through the Gap

BUG: what's weird with the straight line bug is that it's affecting already saved tracks.

BUG: reproduced the no tracking bug in the foreground after a restart while tracking. It's as if geolocation had failed to start.

I also reproduced the straight line BUG which I suspect has something to do with being interrupted while processing background locations.

The DR would not start at all. Hit the starter nothing. Pressed in the kickstand switch nothing. Pulled off the choke, the starter would turn over. Pull in the choke again no start in button pressed. Pulled off choke, pressed starter, pulled choke bike started. Very weird.

I had a long conversation with Matt, the GIS developer hack rider, about the psychology of software as I was letting him bounce ideas about a problem he had managing an unresponsive customer.

I think I may have finally figured out the annoying long line BUG:

It just happened when I killed the app while processing background locations. This is a scenario I stupidly failed to take into account.

Separately something changed on Android with file paths. They are no longer working so photo uploads are failing.

Both will have to wait until I am home.

I spent an hour ordering half a grand of upgrade parts for the DR. Bar riser and peg lowerers plus ADV style pegs. I opted to stay with the stock handle bars for now. This trip has made it clear I need to be able to ride standing up for much longer.

I had a long conversation with Jeff, a surprisingly intelligent and introspectivearine.

Talked to a guy named Matt who rides a Ural Hack Rig. It turns out he is a GIS JavaScript developer and sailor. We had much to talk about.

I spent hours talking to Chip a Mississippi police officer and trucking company owner. He was quite fascinated by my stories of DR and Alaska exploits.

Clean run all the way back as well. No rain. Some sections of damp pavement. The Dragon has been replaced and the pavement is perfect.

My shoulder cramped up properly on the way back.

I think I forgot to mention Thomas the German world traveler on his 125cc Honda Wave. He's continuing on to Argentina.

It was quite chilly and very foggy. I came upon a Harley barely visible in the fog. Eery.
