I forgot to mention here our trip was cut short. On the morning of the second day, after about 30 minutes of runtime right before we were going to raise sails, the serpentine belt on the propulsion diesel shredded again.
Needless to say, this put a damper on the trip.
Because there was good wind
jackie4737 and
America.Rides.Maps put up the mainsail and started navigating our way back to the dock because I only had one, already compromised, spare. I went below and worked on replacing the belt.
Days after the trip I've been trying to narrow down why the belt is failing. But, given the magnitude of the refit, if this is the only "major" problem we deal with, I'll consider it a win.
