I got up at 07:15 without the alarm. On these trips I find it's so much easier to get up early. I got up at 06:00 yesterday.

My legs are so very sore. When I first put weight on them I could hardly walk. There's a Starbucks just down the hill from the hotel so I decided to stroll down to it to exercise my legs a bit.

The question now is do I just head home or do I return to ride the next third of the MABDR. I'm tempted to ride it up to where I think Rough Run Road intersects it and ride that over the ridge to points homeward.

By the end of yesterday, that muscle in my back started cramping. Stopping regularly seems to help.

It would help if I left the bike in Lock instead of Park. The front desk let me know the light was on. They tried twice. I ignored the first attempt.

I thought I ad stayed on this side of Staunton before but I it looks like I'm mistaken. Off to a Hampton Inn.

Pavement.

Up to here was nearly pavement quality gravel. Dusty though.

Was paved for a moment.

This was a taxing wide freshly graded loose gravel and dirt road. Little traction. I lost the front a few times but kept it upright. This would be a mess in the rain.

Thankfully I was able to follow some fresh truck tracks otherwise it would have been even more taxing.

My left upper back is cramped.

Another wonderful moderately twisty tree tunnel ride. Sparse houses

Dry Run Road up to here is like the road up to Fort Lewis Lodge. Moderately twisty hilly tree tunnel. Sparse houses.

Pavement again.

I was thinking I've ridden past the entrance to this trail maybe half a dozen times and would never have explored it because it looked like nothing.

Wayne's crossroad annotations are HUGLY helpful.
