The amount of 'smart' devices I take with me that need regular firmware updates verges on ridiculous.

I have the new GPS set up. It does offer one major advantage that I see as a huge improvement. You can send GPX files to it from the phone. So I will implement exporting GPX files from the app directly. 

So this makes a strong case for adding the route editor to the app, which with the underlying changes made in this last big push, should now be doable and work pretty well.
