Mark is going down for a nap.

Wayne and I are in the pilot house. The sunset is being reflected by clouds on the eastern side of us.

Gentle rolling waves pushing us to and fro, Mark says, "For someone green this would probably seem pretty scary."

The sun is setting behind thick clouds.

We will be doing three hour shifts. I will be doing the 12 to 3 shift. We're doing it this way instead of 2 on and 4 off because conditions are mild and the auto-helm is working.

I wrote a reply to Duncan on the InReach over an hour ago and it has not yet sent.

A little panic as we heard an incredibly loud bang. It too us a few minutes to realize it was a sonic boom.

We jibed a little while ago. It is vastly more pleasant now. Big waves following us. The boat is surfing the waves. I my have seen the fin of anwhale.

With all the sounds and other sensory imputs andnthe fear of making a mistake I get easily confused and forget everything I've learned. It takes a while to relearn this environment and become comfortable again, much like having been off a bike for too long. Skills atrophy quickly.

Skies are turning grey. It's getting cooler.

I could have sworn I packed T-shirts but they are not to be found and I forgot to pack things in then vaccuum bags to keep them dry.

My mind still can't come to grips with the fact that we are out here. Former me could not have imagined current me.

I spent an hour or so quietly at the helm. Mark has gone below to sleep. It's partially sunny and relatively warm.

The waves have been building and we're on a broad reach wallowing over building waves.

We're close enough to shore that we have radio reception but no cell service.

I was feeling pretty rough as if I had eaten something off diet but I'm starting to feel a but better. I made some treacherous coffee and had something to eat which has helped.

We estimate we'll reach our turn point towards the Chesapeake Bay between 2 and 3 am.

Seas were confused. I took the wheel from Wayne intending tonshow him how to keep better course and then lost the course myself and nearly had an unplanned jibe. Mark immediately pulled us from the helm and turned on the auto-helm since conditions were not as bad as expected.

I asked him for some time at the helm later so I can rebuild the feel I have apparently lost.

I woke up feeling pretty out of sorts. Stressed. I failed to pack t shirts. I did manage to get some coffee in me and take a shower but even now over an hour later I'm still not feeling right.

We're out of cell service range now.

Got up at 08:00 sharp. There is sunshine and the forecast is favorable. We're preparing to get underway.

I made some coffee and will take a shower shortly.

Mark went to sleep. Wayne and I stayed up for a while running the genset. It was a successful day. Calling it a night now.
