Falling Springs

Started really not feeling well so we're hanging out until I do.

Up promptly at 06:30. Could not sleep to save my life so am crazy tired but nevertheless we are on the verge of getting underway.

I'll do an IG post, sip some more coffee, and we'll head out. Cool this morning. Electric vest weather.

No real dinner or breakfast but we were saved by a Sheetz across the street. We made reservations in Lexington. 280 miles.

We had little cell service during the day. Tracks and posts uploaded during a few points during the day. It failed to track over an extended period. I'm not sure why.

Found some fantastic roads. Had trouble finding accommodations. There's been a run on motel rooms in the wider area here. Dinner was the finest from Sheetz. 

Ryan's phone is quite old and that seems to be why the app is not working on his phone. It's not my bug. The platform itself doesn't work. I'll file a bug report with them when I get back. 

There are no restaurants open in this town so it looks like it's dinner from the Sheetz across the street.

Finally found a room. No one could tell us why there are nonroom available within thirty miles. No special events. Nothing. "Lots of out of town workers." one hotel clerk said.

Weird.

Now to hopefully find some food.

Finding a motel is proving surprisingly challenging. This one is a bust. I reserved a room here but there is no one to let us in.

Every hotel/motel for miles is booked solid.

Some miles back it changed from deep gravel to hard packed dirt. There's a wonderful mountain stream along here. Paced a blue heron flyingbto my right for a while.

Pavement starts. This section of gravel wasnpretty deep. Not for novices, I would say. Still stunningly beautiful here.

This road is simply amazing. Just over single lane, forested park mountain road with perfect pavement. It's really long and the East Overlook here is incredible

In Seneca Rocks now. My shoulder have started really hurting. It's been 8 hours so taking another dose of advil and drinking more water.

I always forget how nice 220 is once you get far enough away from Petersburg. Fast. Perfect pavement. Scenic.

So far we should be in good shape to make it to Elkins before sunset.
