The mechanic said that SAE 30 was one of the recommended oils but that the fact that the engine was consuming significant oil when running 15w50 may be an indication of a cylinder with a ring problem however it could also be the turbo.

Jeff Leitch, an independent mechanic, was able to quickly identify that the turbo has failed and needs to be replaced.
In addition, he found that the oil cooler was on the verge of failure and the circulating pump is on its way out.
