Today, I learned that Capacitor 6 requires Node 18, but Node 18 will not run on the antiquated version of Ubuntu 18.04 LTS that I run. (Which is rude.)

So I need to do a system upgrade which because of the complexity of my environment means a by hand reinstall.

After getting the System76 Lemur Pro ultra portable laptop , which is significantly faster than my old desktop setup, I'm pondering using a PCIe Gen3 SSD drive as the boot drive and relegating the old magnetic platter drives to long term storage.

What is the difference between PCIe Gen 3 and PCIe Gen 4? - Kingston Technology

PCIe Gen 4 is the latest and fastest PCIe standard available on motherboards and compatible CPUs. PCIe Gen 4 cards can accommodate the full bandwidth that is possible with NVMe SSDs technology.

So I failed to realize that I need a PCIe to M.2 adapter:

I came across some sites that mention some users of these old machines are having trouble getting it to boot from an SSD. We'll see if this works.
