We came across a “low water bridge” today on our explorations. These are bridges that are designed to withstand being submerged during flood events. There was some evidence this one had experienced a recent episode.
Superb leaf color as we cut through those mountains in the background on The Python today (US 58). While US 421 - “The Snake”, south of Damascus, gets all the attention, this ride to the east is as good or better and longer.
It’s a nice evening on the porch at The Old Jail. Today’s riding went well. The routes we plotted worked flawlessly even using the barest minimum of waypoints. The routes we scouted yielded several good roads, one outstanding, an unpaved loop that’s not really worth doing.
