1 of 4 This is an interesting video promoting why lane splitting is safer than not. What are your opinions, as riders?
2 of 4 I've found that in areas where Lane Splitting is common (California, parts of Europe), it has been a relatively stressless experience. Largely because the motorists in cars and trucks are familiar with, and not surprised by, a bike coming up between lanes. In places where it is uncommon drivers can have decidedly non bike friendly reactions which can make for a less than wonderful moment or two. I do not in any way blame the drivers of the cars for this, they are largely just surprised and react as surprised and untrained people do - i.e. randomly.
It all starts with education and must include the appropriate education and acclimation for both operators of bikes and other vehicles.
3 of 4 Exactly what I was going to say.
4 of 4 Here is a post about the same video, mentioning MbM, even.
He links another article he wrote, too.
Lane Splitting can be safe and fun!
