Verizon for unknown reasons yesterday, suddenly started filtering port 53, which had the effect that no one could reach my websites.
The sites were never down. They were unreachable.
After spending over an hour trying to explain to them that I could prove that they were in fact filtering, they told me, "we cannot help you.". "But I can /prove/ you're filtering." to which they replied "My network engineers are telling me that we are not, so even if we are we are not.".
Bastards.
So, for the first time since 1994, I am not running my own name servers. I have everything moved over to a third party provider and it looks like it's up and running.
And then, just as soon as I got the last domain moved over, suddenly Verizon stops filtering ...
But given the number of times I've gotten reports that the site is unreachable I'm going to have to come up with some other solution.
