Ok, Quick survey - I currently use Aerostich Dariens as my protection gear when doing substantial rides...however, once the temps are above 85 with sunshine & humidity, and wearing jeans or lighter pants underneath, they become fairly intolerable with full days in the saddle...especially with hot sunny days.  Have anyone had better luck with Kevlar Jeans on hot (dry) days or the under-armor products one can wear under regular street jeans?? Thanks . 

I have a set of Cortech kevlar and leather reinforced jeans but don't like them very much. They simply don't feel like enough protection to me. Instead, I wear a set of Olympia Airglide 3 mesh pants:

I wear Dariens too. When it gets really hot I wear hiking pants underneath. Much cooler than jeans and you can zip the legs out to make them into shorts if you want to. Makes the Dariens tolerable in hot weather.

Good idea. in that same thought, Duluth-Trading sells a super lightweight quick-dry pant also.  Will give the shorts idea a try...(just does not feel as protected with just the pants and shorts) As sexy as Yermo's Olympia Airglide pants are, I really don't want another pair of water resistant pants (..they do have a zip out liner) I still like the Dariens, just not on hot muggy days.  I could swap out my ST1100 for a naked bike too for more airflow. The ST's fairing does too good a good of blocking any cooling air flow.

I understand the concern about wearing shorts. I look at it as being a whole lot more protected wearing Darien's with a thin base layer than I would be wearin jeans. I figure it's better than just wearing the skid resistant jeans that are out there.

After some Rezilla discount shopping a pair of stylish Olympia Renegade pants were ordered up...after loging about 100 miles this weekend in smothering hot weather, they seem to be the ticket.  No rain protection, but plenty of knee and hip CE rated protection.  Good ventalation with lightweight hiking pants underneath.  For longer weekend rides, the Darian's will be packed along in event of the ever present Summer thunderstorm downpours ... Didn't really want another pair of riding pants, but necessity seems to rule in this case... Thanks all for your input...
