    I'm going to be putting a chain drive motorcycle on the road soon after years of riding shaft drive bikes exclusively.

    One of the things I'm starting to remember is the hassle of maintaining (cleaning, adjusting, lubricating) chains. I've read over the years that automatic chain oilers can make a huge difference in chain life and reduced service time.

    Had anyone here had any experience with automatic oiler systems like:

    I hear ya.  Maintaining a chain is kind of a pain.  And messy.  My solution is to just not worry about it too much.  Modern chains are so much better than the chains that were used on those old bikes when they weren't so old.  And sprockets, too.  I, myself, don't feel the need to put an oiler on my chain-driven bike.

    What bike are you putting back on the road?

    buffalo has picked up a DR650SE. It seems that these days all the cool kids are getting them.

    Gadzooks!  I thought he was talking about something from the 70's.  Maybe a chain oiler would make sense on a bike meant for unpaved roads.
