The article's author pooh-poohs the design but I kind of like it.  Yes the big billboard of a battery isn't the most attractive but the students did a pretty damn good job both from a technical and style standpoint...

I'll stick with the actual electric motorcycles in production. It looks like they are way beyond this design, at minimum in the  area of comfort. That thing looks like it would hurt until you slipped off it. 

Nice to see the concepts being developed. I'm not rushing to give up my gas bike, but the zero I test rode last year was unexpectedly impressive.
